Importance to the Basics..
Importance of learning basic things is getting diminished day by day. People nowadays want to be Great Film Directors, Photographers, etc etc etc without even knowing how to fit a screw or change a bulb. I know i do sound a bit old (in age) with this starting line and most of the people will think it to be a lecture session on this blog. I too agree with them that it will be a lecture session for those who think that way. But with the nature of giving clarifications the human race have (which i also belong to) I will say I am not here to give lectures but just share an incident that happened and what I took out of it.
Today, In the evening at a kitli I was having few cups of tea (plural and plenty form of a cup of tea), where i saw that tyre of the car of owner of the kitli got punctured. So he did ask one of the kitli boys to take the jack and change the tyre. Few of the boys working there saw the scene happening from far away and they were all running here and there just to avoid this extra work (which wont be paid at any cost in terms of monetary gain). A young boy working there only with full enthusiasm asked the owner to give his keys and he took the jack and started the process. Few complications came for him (he was doing it for the first time), but with the help of a bigger stronger colleague he was able to accomplish the task. He was smiling in this entire tedious procedure of tyre changing. What followed was a Tea for him from the owner himself which made him happier. After I was also done with the rounds of tea i called the boy and asked him how come he was enjoying so much in the process. He replied with a bigger smile and said "pote gaadi lais tyare tyre change karva koini jarur na pade etle sikhto hato" (when i buy a car i wont need a person to change the tyre). I smiled and was happy to see his confidence, dreams and persistence. I just smiled and was about to leave when he said "saheb tame joyu ane puchyu e gamyu" (i was happy that you saw this and asked me).
What i understood (with my limited thought process) from this incident is that the boy wanted to learn something new and such an urge will help him grow in future constructively. Late following to a thought process I was like a boy with such a background and tender age still have an urge for constructive growth which is lacking in most of the Young Brothers and Sisters I come across on a daily basis. All they see is how they can make more money or do something which they can show to others just to get some fake accolades.
Nowadays what I feel is its all about monetary benefits and not about developing a skill or getting knowledge. The need to learn small basic things is getting extinguished day by day. Now a days we dont want to learn how to hit a nail in the wall but can laugh on a guy who may have got hurt while doing the same. We feel shy to clean the spark plug of the vehicle if it doesnt start as most of us hardly know how it does come out.
"Its too much for all to have knowledge about everything but at least be informed about the basic things."
Kudos to such an inspiring thought!!
